Good question, I really never use it when its not plugged in. Its supposed to last 2 hrs. You can extend that by shutting certain things down. There is also no overclocking when its in battery mode.
My windows experience score hits 7 on everything except for hard drive which only hits 5.7
I'm sure at some point I'll decide to replace the hard drives (yes there are two 550gb drives in the computer) with SSD, but that won't be for a while yet.

That's not to bad at all. 2 Hours is very acceptable.

Added another 32GB solid state Patriot Warp drive. Impressed with the speed and increase in start up time and overall performance. Also popped in another 2 GB DDR tri chan 1333mhz stick.

i guess i will eventualy get a SSD, but 32GB is so small, thats not really enough space for a system drive now adays. Windows itself takes up a good 12GB.
I have a 74GB raptor and I don't even have space to install my games onto it. Just OS and programs. All my games, docs & media are on slower terabyte secondary drives.
And even if you had a SSD just for game installs, a 32GB could only hold a handful of modern games.
Still too expensive for me to justify the cost of a larger SSD.

Ya the SSD's are still to small and you would have to have a more than one to run everything. With your operating system on an SSD and everything else even on a fast SATA drive it still creats a bottle neck, so not much point. So that is why I opted for just fast SATA drives. I'm sure SSD's will get bigger and the price will come down in 4 to 6 years, I can wait till then.

Well, see the boot time has been cut down to about 14 seconds with a single solid state drive. See the smart thing to do is by multiple SSDs, pop them in raid, and get a retarded fast speed. Regardless of the quality of the drives and how much they will improve or degrade with time, I'm going to eventually get new ones in a year anyway. I personally don't give a shit about the price, rather have something fast then slower. That and I'm obviously going to get a few more of the same drive for raid next month. Why the hell would you by a 60gig for 200$ and get only about 150mb read speed, when you can get 2 x 32gig ssds and nearly double that speed for about the same price. Next month, I'm picking up 2 more and that will give me about 90 gigs in raid. That's an acceptable amount of drive space. Pretty much every one i have talked to, thinks its dumb to get them, but if you want to stick with your failing mechanical hard drives, where in raid have a much higher rate of failure, that's ok as well. Just my 2 cents.

oh and another note, tiger-direct, ncix, canada computers, etc.... all have SSD now on sale pretty much all the time for about 100$ for 60 gigs. That's not bad at all. Compared to the price 1 year ago when they wanted 600$, much better.

i only care about boottime on my laptop. I never shutoff my desktop and only restart like once a month.

The boot time was an example. I restart every few days so to me it does not matter. Before it took about 3 minutes, now its down to seconds.

Can't wait to open up the monitor and keyboard to play with them. Doesn't make sense to take them out of the packages yet since I still have to transport them to camp.
