So ,.. what are you guys thinking of trying in this game? What scenarios do you see unfolding, stories happening, that kind of thing.

My first: Organize an exploration team: Consisting of a Carrack, and/or Contellation, Starfarer, and a couple Vanguard for security...

Stalking goat: Have someone driving around in a fancy 'Jump' (890? the luxury yacht) while shadowing it with a squad of Spectres (Ghost Hornets) and troll for Pirates.

My plans at this point consist of chasing down bounties when I can, and flying cover for missions. As for the 2 ideas you've just posted, I'll be crewing for things like that until I can afford a fancy shmancy vanguard or the like. (Though my main target right now is a Retaliator)

Security for 890 jumps? If anyone gets a Hull-E, we can run security escort and reap in some serious cash. Best way to start buying more ships, stations, etc.

-- LTI if you get it before the sale ends, and being an expensive ship, insurance will be quite high. If you've got the funds, or a spare kidney, I recommend getting one! No, I dun has one :( --

Hm. I can get a Banu Merchantman w. LTI for that price,(less, actually) and i already know a guy with a Hull C. Myself and the wife are hoping to snag Freelancers before before year end: Hers the explorer , mine the military spec. Once in game, Ill work towards a Carrack, her possible a Constellation.

We have a least two Hull Cs and a ship for every other job in the game so we can try everything. I would like to do whatever makes me rich.

Vanduul are the baddies we know about, the plan is to assault them at the very end of beta before any planned reset. Just to see if it can be done.

Se we will definitely have transport and escort jobs. I know some people would like to do some bounty hunting. One or two of us have mining platforms and will need a crew and escorts for that. We also have a team of explorers ready to jump on launch.

As for Operation Pitchfork, I need seven more crew to take my Tali in for some runs on the Vanduul cap ships. Five of those will be manning turrets. This is going to be fraking great!

Hm. I have ORC armour, the trenchcoat, the pistol, and 'Advocacy tools' (heh) What else do I need for bounty hunting?

Have the armor, pistol, and trenchcoat but I melted my advocacy tools. I'll pick 'em up when you can acquire them in game. I needed to raise funds for my Hull-C.

If there's no permanent damage or loss, I'll certainly be in on pitchfork. As for other stuff, I'm planning to flip between smuggling and bounty hunting as often as I can, and run security on the side.

All I have to say is that I was one of the initial backers of the Star Citizen project way back a few years ago.

Over time, I've managed to resist buying all kinds of ships and toys and upgrades (because I simply can't afford it) and, while I did check in on development from time to time, I've not followed closely.

However, as I read more and more, I find the game becoming more and more complicated (like... EVE Online, complicated) and I worry that, I won't be able to realistically find a role that I will be able to fill effectively.

Add the fact that pilots have been alpha testing and flying for months now, and I worry I will get my ass handed to me (and quick) once the game launches.

Can anyone help me believe otherwise?

Canuck, I like you. You know that. Having said that, youre looking for a reason, -not- to play.

Your seeing complicated, where i say theres options. Im imagining it as Freelancer, with the FPS option to get out of the ship. I know EVE did that, but I didnt like their take on the 3rd person spaceflight thing.

But, If you remain unconvinced, I can find a use for the goodies you will have amassed on your account. 8)

You're seeing too much of the development data. That's the only problem. Sure, it looks daunting with all the updated info stacking. Just sharpen your pragmatic eye and you'll see that much of the flight model specifics have more to do with making them function more user-intuitively, unlike most flight/space sims before it. It gonna be gud mang! Fear not!
