Tried the speakeasy speed test and it is faster than shaw's none the less here's results from Seattle server cuz it is closest.

Download Speed: 1013 kbps (126.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 177 kbps (22.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

You might think I pay for the light version of shaw high speed. No i pay fifty a month for this. I don't have any other option where I live at this time.

When the techie was here today he told me that the local nodes for high speed internet are extremely overloaded, he said there a 600+ modems attached to a line that is suitable for 200, and they aren't planning an upgrade till May 1st this year and i should be happy to see even 20% of the advertised speed witch i think i'm not even getting.
So i guess the conclusion to this story is don't use Norton and don't pay your hard earned money to Shaw for internet unless your like me and have no other option except for dial up or i guess satellite, witch cost's even more.

I'm hoping when they upgrade our lines I will see speeds like back when it first got hooked up, and no one else in our hillbilly town new what internet was.

my internet is okay at times, other days its better than almost anything else out there, and sometimes its almost as bad as dial up

My transfer rates:
on a good day i get 190-250 kbps, pinging like 75-85
an an avg day i get 135-165 kbps pinging like 95-115
on a bad day i get 35-55 kbps pinging 'round 125-135
on a really bad day like yesterday at about 7 central i think 5-10 kbps, and pinging like 145-165

Hey joe,
I'm in cloverdale and I have shaw internet. I pay an extra $10 a month for the fastest connection shaw has, for gaming etc. I forget the name of it.
I get 9161 kbps download and 993 upload.

Other than the price I pay, I'm pretty happy with shaw. You may want to try the extra for a month, I think they'll let you have it for free for a month. See if its any better.
They don't have to come out to do this, if you phone them they flick a switch and you've got the extra speed. Check your speed before and after you get it. So you can compare.

I would like to try it but can't get that here yet. Maybe in twenty years when my town starts to modernize. (When all the old people die off)
